Wired Magazine asked Isobar's Innovation Services team to create a new mobile experience to launch in sync with their 25th anniversary.

Get Wired APp

At the time Wired only had a 'magazine' app for subscribers. We set out to use the existing RSS feeds and subscription APIs from the web to create a native mobile experience worthy of the Wired brand.

Challenge

We had an incredibly short window to build a mobile app that would be ready in time for the events so we started with a content audit and technical feasability analysis. We landed on using the online content feed, a section for the event, and negociated a new 'experimental' section that would be a place for interactive storytelling.

Results

The app launched successfully on time and we were there to support the anniversary in person. I was also honored to be the lead writer of the first experiment. A story that explained and allowed users to play with facial recognition software on their devices.
